About this Design

The black and white design depicts a group of medieval-style creatures and humanoid figures sitting around a table, joyously raising goblets and cups. Most characters have distinctive, exaggerated features, including horns and animal heads, giving a fantastical and eerie feel to the scene. The style is reminiscent of old woodcut prints, and there are trees in the background that add to the medieval setting.

This hand-carved block print is based off a woodblock print from the 1700s. The book the original comes from discusses witches and their activities and has some lovely images throughout depicting witches doing various activities. One image shows a group of witches and devils at a feast (or sabbat) and I loved it so much I had to recreate it myself! I've doneit as a hand-carved block caving which I then printed before scanning.
